Amstelfy Technical Solutions is proud to announce its membership in ECO Platform AISBL, the leading international non-profit association that coordinates the development and provision of credible, scientifically verified environmental product data for the construction sector. This membership positions Amstelfy at the intersection of construction product certification and environmental sustainability — two domains that are rapidly converging under evolving European regulation.
What Is ECO Platform?
Founded in 2013, ECO Platform is the umbrella organisation for Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) programme operators across Europe. Its members include notified bodies, LCA practitioners, tool providers, trade associations, and manufacturers — all working toward a shared goal: making lifecycle assessment data for construction products consistent, accessible, and trustworthy across borders.
The organisation's ECO Portal serves as an open-access digital hub for machine-readable EPD data, enabling architects, specifiers, and LCA tools to draw from a single, verified source when assessing the environmental performance of buildings.
EPDs are standardised, third-party verified documents based on lifecycle assessment methodology (ISO 14025, EN 15804) that transparently communicate the environmental impact of a product from raw material extraction through end of life. As the European regulatory landscape evolves — particularly with the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) — environmental declarations are moving from a voluntary market differentiator to an essential part of how construction products are placed on the European market.
Environmental product data is no longer optional — it is becoming a regulatory expectation woven into the fabric of how Europe builds.
Why This Matters for Amstelfy
As an ISO 17025, 17065, and 17029 accredited laboratory based in Amsterdam, Amstelfy already supports manufacturers through the full lifecycle of construction product compliance: performance testing, CE marking, European Technical Assessment (ETA) development, and factory production control (FPC) certification. Our scope spans more than fifteen European Assessment Documents, covering everything from FRP composites and FRCM systems to anchoring products and expansion joints.
Joining ECO Platform is a natural extension of this work. As manufacturers increasingly need to pair their Declaration of Performance with credible environmental data, Amstelfy is building the expertise and partnerships needed to guide clients through that process. Our membership gives us direct access to ECO Platform's working groups, technical resources, and the broader community shaping how EPDs are developed, verified, and used across Europe.
What This Means for Our Clients
Manufacturers working with Amstelfy on CE marking, ETA development, or FPC certification will benefit from our deepening involvement in the environmental data ecosystem. As EPD requirements become integrated into the Declaration of Performance under the revised CPR, having a partner that understands both the mechanical performance testing and the environmental declaration landscape will be a significant advantage — particularly for manufacturers outside the EU seeking access to the European market.
A Strategic Fit
Amstelfy's recent membership in the European Rebar Council (ERC) under EuCIA already signalled our growing engagement with the composite materials and sustainability community. ECO Platform membership reinforces this trajectory. Together, these affiliations reflect a deliberate strategy: to position Amstelfy not only as a testing laboratory, but as a knowledgeable partner in the broader ecosystem of sustainable construction — one that can help manufacturers navigate the technical, regulatory, and environmental dimensions of bringing products to market in Europe.
We look forward to contributing to ECO Platform's mission and to bringing the value of this membership directly to the manufacturers we serve across Europe and beyond.
